Wedgewood and Sharefest Transform a 100-year-old South Los Angeles School

On September 13, 2018, Wedgewood and Sharefest came together for a special community transformation project, an ongoing collaboration named "Wedgefest." Sharefest is a non-profit organization that gives youth with significant barriers the skills, support, and connections they need to achieve economic success. Sharefest creates opportunities for organizations to give back to their local communities by coordinating local service projects. This Wedgefest project focused on transforming the Gil Garcetti Learning Academy historic school in Los Angeles, California. The 100+-year-old school needed modernization and enhancement to continue to foster a vibrant learning environment for years to come.

With our values rooted in giving back and our mission to revitalize communities, we were honored to be a part of this project. Our Wedgewood employees contributed their time and expertise to help breathe new life into the building. Our vendor partners supported this initiative by providing generous donations and supplies for the project. The final result was a brighter and revitalized learning environment for the academy's teachers, administrators, and students. The collaboration between Wedgewood and Sharefest is an inspiring example of what can be achieved when businesses and nonprofits unite to support a local community.

The transformation of the Gil Garcetti Learning Academy is not just about physical renovation; it exemplifies Wedgewood's passion for revitalizing communities and what an honor it is to continue investing in the future of youth.
