Wedgewood Employees Donate Time and Apparel to Dress for Success Dallas
Wedgewood's Dallas team spent a rewarding day of service at Dress for Success Dallas, a non-profit organization committed to empowering women to achieve economic independence by providing professional attire, career development tools, and a powerful support network to help women thrive in work and life.
In the days leading up to the service day, Wedgewood's team members actively engaged in the collection of new and gently used professional clothing items such as dress shirts, trousers, blazers, and shoes. These items were then donated to Dress for Success, which will be given to women as they prepare for job interviews and job placements.
During the event, Wedgewood employees contributed in various ways, including receiving donations, and sorting and tagging apparel, footwear, and accessories. The unique aspect of Dress for Success lies in its emphasis on quality donations. They ensure that all clothing items are in excellent condition, clean, and modern so that they can instill confidence in women as they step forward into their future.
Jessica LeRoy Thigpen, Director of Strategic Initiatives & Philanthropy at Wedgewood, shared her experience: "The mission of Dress for Success inspired me greatly. It's about empowering women to feel confident, acquire necessary skills, and secure jobs that offer competitive salaries. We had the privilege of volunteering at their clothing donation center, and it was remarkable to witness the effort they put into creating real opportunities for women. Every client is given an outfit for their interview, and upon receiving a job offer, they receive three additional outfits. This can be a game-changer for those who can't afford to buy clothes on their own. The mission and passion of the Dress for Success team resonated with us as creating opportunities aligns with our company's core values."
